But without change we’ll never grow. Without change we’ll never be stretched to see how far we can reach. Without change we’ll get stuck in a rut. (Someone once said, “The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.”)
A change of scenery can be as good as a rest. A change of residence, even a change of work or ministry can be the means for personal development.
But I’m not talking about change for change’s sake. It’s not time to whimsically change marriage partners or trade in our children.
But certain things may need to change. The apostle Paul says, “put off … the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man….” (Ephesians 4:22, 23) We are hopefully “being transformed … from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3:18)
Is the prospect of change freaking you out? Trust the Rock — the One who is the SAME yesterday, today and forever.
Has God been stirring up your nest? Is He challenging you to step out and spread your wings? If you’ve really heard from God (and you’re getting good counsel from mature and trusted friends) grip His hand. This may be your golden opportunity to soar to places and heights you never imagined.
